The Southern Appalachian Mountains are the highest,
and considered by some the most rugged of the Appalachian chain. The fauna at these
elevations is similar to more northern states. The Great Smoky Mountains National
Park alone has more species of fauna then all of Europe combined. Many of our
mountains and stream banks are covered in rhododendrons, azaleas, mountain laurel and
dogwoods to name just a few. The floral display starts in Mid-April and reaches its
height in late June and July depending greatly on the elevation. This display can be
breathtaking and can only be matched by catching a feisty little Brook trout with colors
equally as beautiful.
Wildlife is abundant in our area. White-tailed deer, bear, wild boar,
bobcat, coyote, fox, otter, beaver, turkey and many more all make our woods
their home.
